KOMBUCHA! We love it! WORKSHOP Coming up Sept 24th 2016!

Kombucha!

What is it?

Unless you have been hiding under a rock, you HAVE probably heard something of this health trend! It has been quite popular in health and organic communities for a few years now, and doesn’t look to be slowing down in popularity anytime soon.

How would we describe kombucha? Well, it’s kind of a fermented ice tea! It’s absolutely delicious, with a base that has a slight apple-cider-vinegar taste and many flavour variations. A really good ‘pick-me-up’ in the afternoon when you know you should probably stay off the caffeine! A refreshing drink after a meal or whenever with a slice of lime and mint. Full of gut-health benefits, it’s natural probiotic properties boost immune health, making it a number one refreshing healthy drink.

What is it made of? Basically tea and sugar! But the beauty of it is, similar to yoghurt culture that consumes the sugar formed in milk, kombucha requires a sugar hungry culture called a ‘scoby’ that consumes the sugar and caffeine. Producing this very healthy iced-tea alternative.

Unpasteurised kombucha is the way to go, as it has all the benefits that have been formed during fermentation. This means it is not heated and must be kept in the fridge to keep from fermenting further.

We have 3 fantastic local organic brands in store: Good Brew Kombucha & Remedy Kombucha both can be purchased in glass bottles in our display fridge & Grateful Harvest Kombucha-on-tap which uses the zero waste bottle system. Whereby you can purchase a bottle once, and keep filling it up over-and-over again. These 3 kombucha brands come in a tempting range of delicious organic flavours.
